Christmas Prize Draw - Players Sign Stag Party!

Captain Adam Murray and top scorer Matt Green are among the Mansfield Town players to have signed a copy of the book Stag Party that will be the first prize in a charity Christmas prize draw.

A host of other names, including Luke Jones, Alan Marriott and manager Paul Cox have also added their names to the publication, which makes for a unique souvenir of the club’s Conference Premier title win.

The draw, which has been organised by Ollerton Stags Supporters’ Club, is raising money for the Emma Stamp Charitable Trust.

Tickets are priced at £1 and will be available from sellers outside the One Call Stadium before tomorrow’s FA Cup replay against Oldham Athletic and Saturday’s League Two clash with Accrington Stanley.

They are available, too, throughout the week by contacting the Ollerton Stags Supporters Club on 07816 426383.

There will also be a second and third prize, with the draw to be made on the pitch at half-time of the Accrington game. A list of the winners will be posted online through various media outlets.
“There are only a handful of copies of the books now left and this one is the only one that has been signed by all the leading contributors to the win, including some who have now left the club,” said Ollerton Stags’ Leanne Gravil.

“The Emma Stamp Charitable Trust is a fantastic cause, remembering our friend, which raises money for youngsters in the East Midlands who need a helping hand, and we’re hoping supporters can dig deep.”

Stag Party book banks £2,500 for charities

Mansfield defender John Dempster is to hand over £2,500 generated from sales of a book charting last season’s memorable Conference campaign to two charities at Saturday’s home clash with Morecambe.

Representatives of Nottingham City Hospital’s Prostate Cancer Appeal and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance will each collect £1,250 following the success of Stag Party: The Inside Story of Mansfield Town’s Promotion to the Football League.
The hardback book, which numbers more than 250 pages and includes a selection of stunning images, records the club’s remarkable 2012-13 season when Paul Cox’s team put together an amazing late run to take the Conference title ahead of Kidderminster.
Author Matt Halfpenny has been delighted with the response of the fans to the project and the fact that so much cash has been raised for two worthy local causes.
“It’s great that the record of such a fantastic period in the club’s history should be able to help others out in this way and I’m eternally grateful for the way supporters have got behind the book - to the benefit of charities that do so much good work in the community,” he said.
“Of the print run of 500, well over 400 have already been sold, but some are still available. It would make an ideal Christmas present for any fan who’s not yet got a copy.”
Proceeds from copies sold from hereon in will go to the Emma Stamp Charitable Trust, a charity named after the popular Ollerton Stags Supporters’ Club member, who sadly lost her life in a car crash.
The trust awards charitable grants to projects involving young people in the East Midlands to help them reach their full potential.
Matt added: “Having reached the initial target of £2,500 I had set, I wanted to widen the net to include Emma’s foundation because it’s another terrific and deserving cause.”
Remaining copies of Stag Party are available to purchase on-line or in the club shop at the One Call Stadium.
